The earth has been around for about 4.6 billion years. Human lifetime is only thousands of years old. The Cambrian explosion consisted of the most diverse life earth had seen.
Now that class is over I realize that diverse life ( fish, metazoans, into amphibians, reptiles, and mammals) existed only 5 million years ago.
